Global Service Initiative Overview
The Global Service Initiative is a new expansion of BGLA, designed to connect Black women and girls with the rich cultural heritage of the Black Diaspora through impactful service projects and immersive cultural experiences. Centered on leadership development, cultural exchange, and community service, the initiative empowers participants to make a global impact. By involving BGLA mentors, mentees, and broader community in hands-on, service projects, the initiative fosters global solidarity, strengthens grassroots movements supporting Black women and girls, and promotes sustainable change in underserved communities around the world.
Goals of the Global Service Initiative
Fostering Cultural Awareness: Immersing participants in the local customs, history, and challenges faced by Black communities in the chosen host country.
Building Strong Local Partnerships: Partner with local organizations dedicated to advancing the rights and well-being of Black girls and women, providing both financial and human resource support.
Driving Sustainable Impact: Implement sustainable service projects addressing specific needs such as education, health, leadership, and empowerment for Black girls and women.

BGLA is set to launch its inaugural pilot trip in July/August 2025, aiming to bring 20-25 participants on a transformative, week-long journey to a key destination within the Black Diaspora. This immersive experience will integrate community-driven service initiatives with comprehensive cultural education, enabling participants to make tangible contributions while deepening their understanding of the sociocultural history, gender dynamics, and Black cultural legacy of the country.

Universities & Educational Institutions: Collaborating on service-learning projects and curriculum development.
